Site loads slowly, adding text is jerky
« on: June 29, 2011 - 10:33:44 PM »
I love this site, but is it me or the site loads slowly because of the animated emoticons? Im not the fastest typer, but when my typing is faster than this site allows me, that becomes frustrating.  Is anyone else experiecing this ?  Is there a setting where I can disable the emoticons on my end?  I can only assume a lot more folks on this forum  likes them.  Thanks for any suggestions.

I use verizon wireless for internet service. I am on MSN explorer. I dont have any issues with the way cc.c loads for me. Others use fire fox and google chrome.  I have heard some making the same complaint as you. Often they end up changing some settings and it goes to working smooth for them

No problem here.  Loads lightning fast.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Looks like this site loads fine with Firefox. Must be Internet Explorer that has problems on my PC.

Loads quick for me too. The only problem I have is the oversize avatar's that some people have not resized.
That slows things down.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

I have the same issues as mentioned in the first post. It only gets worse as banner ads keep getting added. The GIANT avatars start out huge, then get small as the page loads. Have not tried Firefox or Chrome.

I agree that some of the avatars are to big and will slow the page loading but it only takes about 3 sec. for me with my connection speed, but I have re sized my avatar smaller, maybe the mods can do something to mandate a smaller avatar so its better for those with a slower connection speed  :dunno:

I use Firefox and am on dial up due to no other services available around here, only problem is the large Avatars.

I use Firefox with an add-on Add-Block-Plus which reduces the amount of adds .
There are a couple of settings under your Profile, select Look & Layout & check the boxes Don't show users' avatars.
& Don't show users' signatures.
Recently I was having some issues especially if I left my browser up very long, I updated & ran Malwarebytes & found some Grayware, things have been much better since.

I did a major update with malwarebytes a couple of months ago which up until that time I had had no problems with, when I rebooted the computor I was unable to click on anything, ended up closing down computor and booting up in safe mode and then removing malwarebytes. Computor works fine again.

The search feature is worse the little wheel just spins ( on the tab)and nothing happens and I get an error message?
