This is a timely thread for me. The passenger seat of my '70 Challenger vert developed a tear, and the center of the drivers seat had been redone by an upholstery shop before I got the car with material that didn't quite match. So I just ordered some Legendary covers to redo the seats through Dantes.
I did my T/A's front seats about ten years ago with a Legendary kit, and it was a tricky job as I recall. Not necessarily hard, but took around 8 hours per seat to do. I think I broke 3 Craftsman wire cutters cutting hog rings!
Sure looked good after they were done. I wish I could finish the car so I can someday install my perfect looking front seats in it!
I spent a bunch of time yesterday digging through my old Mopar mags looking for an article I recall using when I did those T/A seats. I couldn't find it. It seems to me there is a trick, when doing the base of a Challenger front bucket, you need to start the cover around the rear of the seat and do the front second, if you do it the other way around you might tear the cover. Or maybe I have that backward??? At any rate, that is why I really wanted to find that article, because it had the caution about the right way to install the cover on the bottom part of the seat, but I can't find it.
Any update on the Youtube video? I checked youtube but only found a ton of videos on doing upholstery on new Challengers not 1970's.
