:banghead: Okay so here is my dilemma. I've got a 74 challenger with a 440. Obviously not a factory combo. I have a small sector power steering box which I believe makes it a 71-72 steering box. Since I can't find all my parts I'm not sure what I'm missing. Am I suppose to have some additional fittings on the steering box side or does a hose just attached directly to it. If so what size end? Is it suppose to have an o ring or flared? Then there is the power steering pump. It's a Federal / Chrysler style pump which looks to have a pretty large fitting in the front. I have attached a picture. If only I could find the hose in the picture. Some of these hoses are over 30 inches long which is way long. What size fitting is the pump? I see a 4794 number on the hose but no luck trying to find it. Looking for any and all ideas. My head hurts from banging it on the wall in frustration. Merry Christmas everyone.   Don

Thanks I will check with Rick. Which end does the O ring go on? The pump or steering box? The picture he has on the post of the hose looks nothing like the one I lost. Maybe I'm better of getting one made. However I still need to figure out what sizes and types of fittings for the ends.

you have the older Federal type pump so a 60s application should work best , it should be flare fittings on both ends so I am not sure where the O ring would go

So does the older style federal pump work with a 72 era steering box? Obviously it does but trying to figure out the replacement cable isn't much fun. Any idea what fitting would be on that pump?

I used a 80119 hose. Think that's an Edelmann number. 16.99 from Advance Auto Powercraft brand. The pump end was an O-ring. The steering box end I had to use a double flared end adapter to connect the the end of the hose to the steering box. It seem to work okay. No leaks so far. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!!
