Hood Hinge spring

My hood on my Cuda sticks up about a quarter inch on the rear of the drivers side.  It pushes down but pops back up as soon as you start driving down the road.  I have the hood off right now going through the engine.  If I replace the springs would this go away or do I have a problem with the hinge?

Hey again Mike,.  It may be that you just need to adjust the hinge on that side, or you
may have a sticky hinge. Usually a bad spring will let the hood drop.

Hey Andy,
I've tried about everything but replacing it.  I had a reputable body shop try to adjust it but they were not able to get it to stay down so I thought I would ask the experts on here.  I usually get someone that has run into the same problem and can get me pointed in the right direction!   I put a picture on here of my 512 with the heads you just bought.

Try bringing the front tip of the hinge up a bit. That should get the rear of the hood to come down a bit.

   losen the front bolt so is can move freely, losen the rear bolts a so it can move a bit. Then have someone push up the hood while another tightens the bolts.

I had the same isssue.  The hinge is worn and I had to replace mine.  Problem solved.  Good luck.

yea... that`s another possibility.  Mine were toast too, but the biggest problem was sideways play.  I rebuilt them.  Most of the time it`s an adjustment problem though.

My hood used to move about 1/2 inch.  After replacing the hinges with almost new used ones (came off a car with only 40k miles on it) my problem was solved too. Sounds like it might be time for replacement or rebuilding. There are services that do that, just not sure who.

 I have the exact same problem .. I cant adjust without now taking off the hinges and making the holes longer - or whatever way it needs to go. I thought about the spring too. Any other tricks as a last resort? Only as it would be expensive to find and send new hinges to Australia.

There are some nice billet hinges being made now for about $750. Too steep for my wallet, BUT, really nice!

how can anyone justify $750 for a hinge???
