    Just speaking about the local scene here. 72-74 E-bodies are pretty much non-existent.   :sadwavey:

    Wouldn't it be ironic if there ends up being less 72-74's around due to the fact they were used for parts to rebuild the less common 70 & 71's.

    The '70 and 71's are the most common. 70 in particular. So having a '72-'74 just means you have a more rare car than those run of the mill 70 & 71's  :stirpot:

    Production #'s for Challengers:

    1970- 76,935
    1971- 26,299
    1972- 22,919
    1973- 23,930
    1974- 11,354

    So really the '74 Challenger is the most rare. More Challengers were made in 1970 than from '72-74 combined. In fact, from '71-'74 84, 502 Challengers were built, compared to the 76,935 that were built in '70. So, 1970 is by FAR the most common.

    I would guess that the Barracuda's numbers are pretty similar. Although, for the 'Cuda's I don't think it makes much of a difference, '71 is really the only year that looks significantly different... :poopoke:

    I'm 100% okay with any e-body out there, no matter the year lol. I personally have a 72 cuda and like it just fine, in fact I am restoring it! Yep restoring (and modding) an ebody that is not a 70-71 lol. I personally like the look of the 71 cudas the best, but as far as I am concerned all ebodies look killer and I am satisfied to simply have one at all.

    I've had 4 Barracudas and 1 Challenger which I currently own. It's a '74 and at the time I bought it,  the market was at it's peak. I wanted another 70-71 "E" body, but folks were asking (and getting) as much as 5K just for a rolling shell without even a drivetrain. So I opted for a super clean one owner '74 Challenger, garage kept with a nicely built 440 which I gladly paid 12K for. I love ANY old Mopar!! Sure, some are worth more than others, but it's owning one that is fun, not what it's worth because I'll probably never sell mine nor will I be able to get the 30K I have in it. It's just the love of ownership!  :woo: On another note, I have a '68 Barracuda coupe. It's just a driver with a mildly built 360. Far from being a show car, but I love driving it and it's had a decent resto job done. I was at a local show when the lady (I use that term loosly) next to me asked about my car. She was driving a museum piece, I think an early Packard and it was a very nice car, but she was a snooty, rude snob and made a rude comment on my car to which I simply replied that it was finished and at least I could drive mine to shows, park it anywhere and it didn't require a trailer!! Touche'.... :roflsmiley: :smilielol: :roflsmiley: Mopars rule!!  :bigsmile:

    I have never let it bother me as I have owned a 73 Cuda, 2-73 Challengers of which one I still wish I owned as it was a matching numbers Rallye 340 4-speed black with white interior, rallye dash, console, AC, PS, PD brakes, light group. It needed restored and had been hit hard in the left front and had had frame rail work. It drove good and ran good but cars come and go. I have had 2-70 cuda's and 2-71 challenger RT's. I'm restoring a 73 B5 blue challenger right now and some parts are cheaper to buy on the 72-74 models. I say buy what you can afford and enjoy the crap out of them as these cars will never be built again. I drive all of mine and people think I'm crazy but life is short so don't let it slip by.

    I just bought a 73.  I didn't really know there was a 'preference' for the early cars, just that I have never seen a Challenger on the road, so I didn't get to be picky with the year!  Don't kick me out! :)
