Door locks
« on: January 28, 2005 - 04:08:40 AM »
Has anyone converted / modified the 70 door lock mechanisms?

I believe it's a 70 only feature, but you have to lock the doors with key.  You just can't push down inside lock and close door.  This is inconvient for passenger side.

I recall my 72 didn't work this way.

I got tired of that too & bent a small tab on the mechanism that changes it so you can push the buttom down to lock it & shut the door & walk away , much better this way & not hard to do , didyou get the Shifter yet?

CP,

Yes, last week.  I sent you a PM.  Thanks again!

Got anymore info, or maybe a picture on what to do for the door lock?

Thanks,

Katfish

I did mine 20 years ago , if you pull off the door panel & operate the latch you will see the arm that un locks it just bend it so it doesn`t unlock the door as the latch is closed

It's been a while since I've used a door lock mechanism on a 70 challenger. IIRC I think your'e supposed to lift the outer handle at the same time you push the lock lever down to make it latch. Like I said, it's been a while, so I may be wrong on this one. :dontknow:
