Slapstick with reverse valve body
« on: January 03, 2012 - 05:13:57 PM »
Putting a full manual reverse valve body with trans brake into my challenger.  Just wondering if there is anyway to get the slapstick shifter to work the opposite way or would I have to get an aftermarket shifter?

Thanks.

There is an aftrmarket plate that you can install that reverses the stock slap-stick.  I'd have to do a search to find it.  I think there has been mixed results with it though.  I don't think it is as smooth as the stock one is.

As far as aftermarket shifter, I think 72challorange sold a shifter that was a reverse manual pattern last year.  Forget what brand it was...began with "R" I think.... can't remember the name!!!  :banghead:

I myself usually just modify my slapstick for a Reverse manual vb.  You just file down the second gear notch. I am doing this to Cudaguys project now :2thumbs:You slap it from first to second, push the button in for 3rd. Still maintains revers lock out.

That price ($300 bucks) is for the shifter arm and the shifter kit which is called the "Shift-R-Gate" which is also made by Ducan Motor Sports and it's only $30 bucks. I use one and it works fine. If you only want the kit for your shifter then you don't have to spend $300 bucks. See link below!  :2thumbs:

That's more like it. I figured there had to be some way to make it work.

Yeah, I know about that plate from Copes.  I just like free and simple to do is all. Still 45.00 is a good deal I guess if you wanted to do a conversion. Once done, easy on and off.

I was just kinda surprised, because any other kind of plate I had seen was ridiculously priced.  I too like the free do it yourself. But cheap enough, that it would be worth it just in case you ever needed to get it to original again.
