Steering column to steering box?
« on: January 25, 2012 - 10:44:02 PM »
I am trying to put my steering column back in and having trouble connecting to the ps box,any help would be great. Is there a master spline that I am missing, I do have a new roll pin just wondering if it should need force to get it on. Thanks

There is a master spline, put the spline on top looking down from engine comp and then align the notch in the coupler on the steering colume and you should be good.
I like to mark both with a marker to make it easier to sell.

I have them lined up but can't get the steering shaft past the first set of splines on the steering box.

I found it easier to install the coupler on the gearbox (splined and roll pinned) first then slide the column (with filler plates, gasket, and clip) to it. Much quicker with two people but it can be done solo. Set the mini roll pin on the housing afterwards.

 hm,sounds like your inner shaft on the column has collapsed a bit.only the coupler should move when you connect to the steering box.maybe take the inner shaft out of column and force it out to the correct length.theres a lot of threads about it.  :horse:
