VIN Stamp on Cowl and Core Support ....
« on: February 22, 2012 - 06:45:14 PM »
Hey --

Has anyone ever seen a case where the stamp was done with a single incorrect digit?

For instance-   a number 7 was used instead of a number 9.

On the car - instead of    B0 377922   It has B0 377722.
I am 99.9% sure the body is all original.  The panels are the ones assembled in 1970.  The core support and cowl areas show no signs of rewelding etc....    the messed up digit was done exactly the same on the cowl and core support.

he is the legit 2nd owner of the car, been that way for the last 25 years.
I am curios to hear if this has ever happened  ....

thanks
bill

It happened a lot back in the day.  I've seen many myself.  Here's some examples....

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Thanks for the info...   Greatly appreciated!!!!

I will let my buddy know about this.  The poor guy is all worried that the car may have been fudged....
He has the real broadcast sheet, and all the info matches the fender tag/VIN tag and door tag...... (which have never been changed or removed).
He is gonna be happy to hear this...
