Sound Deadening
« on: February 08, 2012 - 02:42:33 AM »
I was wondering has anyone used Summit Racing's self-adhesive sound deadening material. I'm changing my 74's interior from black to white, black vinyl gets a little hot down south, and was thinking this stuff might make for a better driving experience. By the way someone asked if my 74 had a 360. Yes, it's a complete numbers matching 360 four barrel auto. Also, while I'm at it. In another post someone had an interior pic of their 74 and the slap-stick shifter had a round knob, instead of a t-handle. There was a reply asking, " How did you get a 70 shifter in your car?". Well if you look in the 74 Dodge sales brochure the interior picture shows the correct round 70 style knob. As to why Chrysler chose to go back to that one, I don't know. But they did. I don't want to upset anyone, just wanted to add that.

I believe Chrysler went back to the better built knob style handle in 74 due to all of the complaints they received regarding cracking of the plastic T handle.  That, and possibly because they had a stock of the knobs they needed to use before discontinuing production.

Oh, you will be very glad you installed a sound deadner (and heat shield) in your car. I also put up carpet insulation in the roof and now my tunes sound like I am in a concert hall!
