I wouldn't bother with a 340/six-pack.  Make it super reliable.  I'd do a GenIII 6.1L (or 6.4L?) Hemi w/the factory EFI.   Then put an A518 four-speed on it.

Then you can put a "Hemi" hockey stick stripe on it!  (I'd do a red hockey myself)
