my latest project -overhead console
« on: January 04, 2005 - 02:42:19 AM »
since the 68 cuda doesn't come with a dome lite it has always bugged me so I decided to install a overhead  console with seperate dome/map lites- a clock w/alarm and a pair of small speakers (since there isnt anyplace to put them under the dash )
This is the completion of a 25 year old project..LOL I originally hung the console in about '78-'80 and never finished it . Originally this was the floor console of a '74 merc capri. The only piece worth keeping ..LOLthe pics you see are taken as I trial fit and install matching grill work to match my dash panel I made. Hope it doesn't take anoth 25 years to finish completely ...LOL

here is the dash I'm matching it too

Hi OUTLAW,
That is pretty darn cool.
Just goes to show we are only limited to our imagination.
Good work,

What a great idea Outlaw and the curve of the console fits the roofline perfectly.  Nice job!

Overhead consoles are cool. My wife caught me checking out the one in her Dodge Caravan a while back too see if it would fit in my Cuda. She wasn't amused. :dontknow:

Cool, how much cutting did you have to do to make it fit.      I thought the dome lights in all 64-69 b'cuda's were on the Sail panel behind the drive.

very little cutting on the console and screwed the rear of the console into a headliner bow. and the dome lights are on the rear pillars, thats why I wanted a overhead console cuz the dome lites are useless for the front passengers so I added one one

here it is finished up and i installed the toggle for my hood lights in the console rather than the dash a dome lite and a clock ....trying to think of something else to install besides a set of micro- speakers i have ordered

the edging around the console is paneling end cap - snaped right on and molded it to fit with a heat gun
