Challenger Fender 'scoops'/scallops/ swoopy trim things
« on: February 14, 2012 - 11:49:49 AM »
Ok, so I don't even know the correct term for it!  But they are on both front fenders.  They're black and they are the pot metal fender 'strakes' where the pencil stobe decals start from.

The driver one is in good shape, all there.  The passenger has 3 mounting tabs broken off but it was still holding fine on my car.

I have no idea what it's called so obviously I have no idea what to ask, just offer away!  :)

I believe the correct term is "Simulated Fender Louvers"  They would have been fender tag code M08 or as part of the A57 rallye package :)

They are 2 pieces, an outer and an inner.  I believe the inner is repopped but the outer isn't.  Having the stakes intact makes them worth more as they tend to break.

Ahh yes!  Of course! :)  Thank you for the correct terminology!

The inner and outside are there for both sides.  The only thing wrong is the mounting tabs on the passenger side are broken (3 of them) but the other 3 (?) are still there.  The strakes themselves are fine.

  Any pics? How much are you asking for them?
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

I will get pics, promise!  And what's a reasonable price for them? :)  I would like someone to get good use out of them, I welded/shaved my fenders.

Just curious, you prefered your fenders without the fender louvers?  Is yours a Rallye car originally? :clueless:

Mine is a Rallye but I am going for a smoother look.  These look a little awkward on the car :)

These would look better on a restoration.

Cool, yeah, depending what you're looking for and stripes yoou use and such the louvers sorta get in the way.

Tony's Parts sells the plastic inserts.  Originals are commonly broken.

I paid $100 for a pair of louvers that had all the pins intact.  The one with pins broken isn't worth much if anything IMO.  You should be able to get $50 for the good one.

If the three center pins on the flared sections are intact, the passengers side louver probably can be fixed.  There might be enough material behind the pins to drill/tap them for studs.  There is no extra material behind the three center flares though.

Cool, thank you!  How about $75 for everything (2 outside, 2 inside).
