I just hooked in the one end and with a screw driver on the other end pulled in position. Barry ( Alaskan TA) had a great idea, he used paint stir sticks between the coils to spread it out then install.
Hope that helped?

If you own a pair of brake pliers, they usually have a hooked end and enough length to do the same thing. Hook one end of the spring on it's seat and passing the pliers through the other end, hook the second seat with the pliers and guiding the spring with your gloved hand, help it to seat as you lever the pliers to get it on. Usually no drama, but be careful nonetheless.
