    Some Advice Needed Badly (Exhaust)

    I have been struggling with this darn TTI exhaust since last night.  We had some clearence problems with the Passenger side muffler hitting the driveshaft.  We finally got some clearence but now, to me it looks all wrong under the car.  The mufflers are Flowmaster 3 chamber 50 series.  Are they supposed to be sitting like this? (pics to follow).  They look awfully crooked to me.  Any suggestions would be GREATLY aprreciated, as I am ready to scream!

    Oh, and the mufflers on both sides are really close to the body (floor pand).  I already cut an 1 1/2 inches off of the tailpipe to get it where it is now, it was MUCH worse before.  Here are some more pics.

    Well I did alittle research on the system but haven't installed mine yet and first thing I think of is  . . . . I think I recall that muffler is 4 inches longer than the muffler designed for the system.  Did you adjust for that??    :dontknow:

    Yeah, you had to cut the pipe to make it fit.  We cut the tailpipe 1 1/2 inches, which is all you can cut because the bend in the pipe starts.  Also we cut the head pipe to fit.  There is no way to bring the mufflers any further back.  The 40 series Flowmasters ar 3 inches shorter than the 50's.  If I were to use them I would would have to use some extensions they sent with the system and it probably would fit better against the body but that would be a waste because I already have the 50's.  I may end up going out and buying a pair though if I can't figure this out.   :cry:

    I believe there was a 1/2 inch difference between the 40 series and the ones TTI offer with the system!  I'm interested to see the final results you get since I haven't tackled mine yet!  You may yet save me a headache or two!!  :worship:  :worship:  :worship:  :worship:

    Hey April, didn't you buy these seperate? The TTI's and the mufflers and pipe setup? The reason I ask is you may be able to check with the manufactures what you could be either doing wrong or maybe have a wrong part or something. They do look a bit skiwampus though.  Good Luck!

    I bought it as a kit.  I think I am going to buy the 40s.  They have them in 2 1/2 inch at Autozone in stock.  I'll update soon.

    did you try pulling the front pipes apart to get away from the driveshaft more ?
    You may want to look at the Hooker aero chambers , they are shorter as well & have a nicer sound than the 40 s

    I am doing better in the driveshaft department.  Too late for the mufflers, I just got back from getting the 40s Delta Flow ones.

    mufflers are suppsoed to be on an angle, at least the 3 ebodies i did exhaust for (3inch) were.
    Any exhaust system is going to have to be tweaked to fit, just soemtimes more then others.

    April, I put the complete TTI exhaust on my chally a few years ago, although I do not have headers. The mufflers are the dynomax  that tti recomends and the fit ok. The only problem I had was when I hit the brakes the passenger side muffler would hit the driveshaft.  I used a 2X4 and spread the "H" pipe apart and tightened the clamp.  I recall talking to their tech people at the time.  Almost all exhaust systems that you see on these cars have the pasenger muffler closer to the driveshaft for some reason.  I'd have to go with the rest and say the 50's must be a little to long as I know there isn't much room under there.  Good luck I hope you get it worked out... :)
