. You cannot jump these made in mehico starters too many times or they will need opened up reworked. Too many clunks and they won't engage.
I've jumped/shorted mine no telling how many times in 35+years & never had to replace the relay.  :2cents:

It sounds like a marginal connection and it may not be a coincidence that you were working under the car just before the problem appeared.

Did you check the neutral safety circuit yet as suggested above?

The wire runs back underneath to the side of the transmission so you could have disturbed it working underneath.

Well guys good news (at least for now  ::) ) Since my lights weren't working, I decided it had to be something with the battery or battery connections.  I took some jumper cables and hooked them up to my dads cummins and the chally and tried to start it.  My lights now worked and got a click like it was trying to start.  After that I took my negative ground cables off the battery and cleaned the connections...took the positive off and cleaned it, and cleaned the battery terminals.  I also made sure I had a clean ground on the body and motor.  Hooked it all back up, put the jumper cables back to it for a few minutes, then unhooked them got in and with the help of some starter fluid it fired right up  :dogpile: I was so happy...my lights that I have hooked up worked better than ever.  Turned it off and started it back up again a few times.  So, for now at least, all is good in the challenger world  Also got some new cragar's and tires to go on it! One step closer  :burnout:

Glad you got it sorted! If you still have the original or questionalble battery cables . I'd suggest replacing them.! Trust me! ask me how I know! :banghead:  They are not a lot of money.....much cheaper than a tow!

I actually have an almost brand new neg cable on it that runs from the battery to the body.  I cleaned where it mounts to the body, maybe that was it  :clueless: The cable that runs from the engine block to the body is almost brand new as well, but the ends were a little rusty. Cleaned em up, starts like a champ  :bananasmi
