70 or 71 Challenger wanted with A?C

Hi everyone

I' m looking for a project or a driver 1970 or 1971 Challenger with factory A/C. I' m looking for a solid body. Drive train could be anything. Rallye hood,  Rallye cluster and rallye wheels would be a plus, but not mandatory. Let' s see what you guys (and gals), have to offer.

Here is our unified recommendation:  buy the best condition car with as little rust as possible that you can afford. You will be way ahead by doing so.

I' m willing to do that! But I can' t find any, especially with A/C.  And installing a factory A/C in a non A/C car is a tough job, (firewall modification involved), + almost impossible to find a factory A/C set-up for an E-Body, that' s why I would prefer one with A/C already. Most of the A/C cars are missing the A/C stuff that goes under the hood...   Would pay up to 10K (without power train), for a solid body, ice interior and A/C

Not to sound harsh, but a project rust-free 70 challenger shell is worth 10grand. Now throw in the rest of the parts and you have another 10g trying to find nice parts for a basket case. Minus drivetrain. Just saying, case in point, I have a purple 70 R/T SE auto with AC, and in dealing with these cars since the early 80's, have not ever seen a more solid car! 7 pencil sized holes in center of trunk floor. I bought it in 2005, and was a complete car, minus drivetrain. The 10grand price you're offering doesn't sound realistic when you figure in all the $ it will take to get the car up to snuff. I have several e-bodies and have wanted to concentrate on 1. Thought of selling several times but where would you ever find another like this? That is my thoughts on not selling such a clean car for a mere 10 grand. Please don't take this response as insult, just thinking realistic expectations are in order!

You' re not insulting me at all! Being french Canadian, I' m not 100% shure I understood everything you wrote, but if you look at my first post, I' m not expecting a rust free R/T 440 for 10K. I don' t care if it' s a non R/T originally 318, and I said I want a solid body, doesn' t mean rust free and no body work to do at all. But I don' t want  a car that I have to replace the frame rails, floors, quarters, trunk floor., doors, fenders and on and on. I restored a 70 SE in the 90s and I know what it is. I fugure by paying 10K to begin with, I could finish the project with another 20K, I just don' t have 30K right now, but I do have around 10K to invest at the moment, maybe 15. Will have to sell my '79 Li' l red express truck to complete my future Challenger project, (sold my SE in 2001 and I miss it...)Anyway Mr NormsTA, how much do you want for your R/T SE?

Still looking for a cool project. Has to have A/C, ahd that means COMPLETE A/C. Not interested in six pacs or Hemis, (too expensive and not available with A/C). Really, what I' m looking for is a 383 car, but getting a 318 car I could clone the way I want would be ok. Body has to be solid, (does not mean rust free, it just means no rust bucket). If you have something without A/C, well, tell me about it, as I could install A/C in the restoration process...(if I find a factory set-up...).

There's a 71 Challenger with a 340 and AC down here in Puerto Rico. All original sheet metal, black with a white hood stripe, auto. He's asking around 30,000 for it.

It sounds like I have the car you might be looking for and I would consider selling it. It's a 70 Chall R/T 383 Auto with A/C. It also a VERY loaded car with Power windows, Cruise, 6 way seat, AM-FM 5 speaker stereo, power disc brakes, PS, 355 axle pkg. , SE moudling group, hood pins, and the ralley dash of course. It's a 2 fender tag car. Best of all, it is Go-Mango orange, orig paint and from AZ, so the body is REALLY NICE!  It's a project and needs to be restored yet.  PM with any questions

Thanks everyone.  I finally bought one last week. A 1971 Challenger R/T, 383 Magnum with A/C.  It's funny that, while you are looking for a project, you get no reply, and once you find one, then you start to get answers!!!   Thanks for you guys offer.  Now, restoration begins...   Robert

Automatic or stick shift car?

Thanks guys. I have to say that it needs resto, but it is not so bad and at least, it is complete and running. The car is presently automatic. Maybe somebody can answer, but, my code book says that you couldn't order a stick car with A/C...  I have to admit that I never saw that combination...  I plan to add a few options in the resto process and I will probably convert it to a stick car. Also planning to add a rim blow wheel,(which I already have),  front disc brakes, 15 X 7 rallye wheels, and...MAYBE the wide eye brow front mouldings,( if I win the lottery!  LOL)     Robert
