My 71 cuda has a build date of 4/21 and I only have one bar. This months Mopar Action mag has this question in the resto topics section. They replied that  1970   cudas & challys had 2.  1971 both had 1.  1972/73 cudas had 1 while the challengers went back to 2.  They also said it could be kind of a crapshoot as whether you got one or two????

any patterns noticed on that...Hamtrack vs. L.A.?

I have never seen a 72/73 with a single bar, the only ones I have ever seen have been 71's and not all 71's had them :dunno:

:iagree:It was a short lived thing. I hadn't seen it until your pics. I am going to check my 71 convertible and see what it is tomorrow. I am pretty sure it is 2 bars. I have the fender tag in a safety deposit box so I can get a build date. It will be interesting to narrow this down to a rough guess of when this started and ended. It will be another way to spot rebodys. 70's are easy to spot due to all the changes. 71's are easier to rebody on a 72-74 car.

Another question on these. I have a 70 Challenger with dual bars that are installed and functioning. I've seen the square bushings that go on the end of the bar to slide smoothly along the hinge.  Is it required on a 70?  It's kinda loud but I suppose I could give it a little grease.  What is the proper process here?

Thanks.

You should have the bushing on your bars. I have not seen them without the bushings.

Thanks for the input.  It's been so long since I took the car apart, that I couldn't remember.

9/23/70 build '7. Have on bar with bushings for my right side but my left side had nothing.  I was thinking my bar was busted maybe I had two bars...  I will look tonight and maybe get better pics..
