Car appraiser in Massachusetts?
« on: March 23, 2012 - 10:07:48 AM »
Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone had any tips as far as getting their car appraised for insurance?  I wasn't going to go the route of classic car insurance as I will be driving the car here and there not just to car shows.

Does the car need to be in tip top shape?  I assume as complete and running as possible I would assume.

Do I look up classic car appraisers I assume?  Would imagine an appraiser that takes into account documentation, type of car, originalness of the car in addition to condition.

Anyone know a good appraiser in Massachusetts?   :clueless:

Thanks in advance!

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

No, it does not need to be in tip-top shape but it will need to be stored in a safe place, ( garage ).

I suggest you contact a local car club with members that have similar vehicles, they will know who's who. Not like my brother-in-law that paid 4X the going rate to get his appraised by the name given to him by State Farm .

It's been my observation that many of the companies specializing in classic cars (only way to go IMO)will accept an agreed upon value without an appraisal up to a point.  ie Think your car is worth 20K, insure it for 20K no questions ask.

Here's a local idea, Herb Chambers' brother runs Audi Burlington. His bro has a stable of classic cars as you know. Maybe he could get you a local contact?  Otherwise Wayne Carini in CT, he deals with this, maybe his office could recommend someone locally? Just thoughts, these folks are the pointy part of the pyramid, probably deal with the best people? what do I know...
