Alternative (further out) hotels
« on: February 16, 2012 - 12:05:29 PM »
I know Viperman went thru a LOOOOOOT to get a block of rooms close to the show so this is not meant to take away from that effort.....awesome effort!

But ...just in case anyone is interested in a room further out from the insanity, I just booked at the Rodeway Inn in Shippensburg again.  Reason being is I require a King bed and a sofa foldout bed, and I prefer to park right outside my door......rather than bang my head against a wall trying to find something like that at a reasonable price near the show (aint gonna happen IMHO...lol) I went with what I know.

Can always cancel if I find something closer.

$80/ night with my AAA discount...fridge, coffeemaker and free wireless internet (new this year I think??).

Not fancy... but it was clean, reasonably comfortable and quiet.

There are still rooms there if anyone is interested.

Caveat -- we DID have some issues with dining --- the area around the hotel lacks a lot in the area of dining close by....its a sleepy little place.....pizza hut is there....but mostly mom and pop places that close early......at least that is what we found...LOL...hoping to do some research this year and find more.....otherwise we know to eat before we get back there.....

I know....I suck.....

Yeah, but the extra cost and inability to get a king bed with sofa kind of kills it for me....although I just called and they do have "a limited number" of king/sofa rooms available......

Being 20 miles out for either one, I will still save $90 this way.  And that pays for the gas running back and forth between the hotel (either one) with two vehicles.

I know viperman did his damndest......but I was hoping for something closer this year to save some money that way...offset a higher rate....

Truth be told anyways, by the end of the day  of walking looking for parts, I am so beat and worn out it takes all my energy to drag myself to eat and then fall into bed....LOL  Hanging outside all night is not very likely for me....much as I would love to do it, I aint 20 anymore...LOL

Getting old sucks.

I know...cry me a river...

Going to TRY to make the dinner, wherever that ends up ....My wife wasnt in the mood for big crowds last year....hoping to convince her otherwise this time....LOL
