Timimg Issue

So I have re3place the electronics in the distributor and reset everything to TDC.  Starts up right away and sounds real good.  Once I rev it up it sounds good for just  a bit, then i get a backfire and what I feel is is a bogging down of the rpm's and it dies. Last time I backed it out of garage, i could not drive it back in as it seemed to bogged one I went from idle to higher rpm's.  At this point I am thinking the advance mechanism or magnets/springs? are not working.  As far as timing, i think I am idling at about 10 degress past.   
If it is the advance mechanism, is their a way to repair?

Just backing out and in to your garage wouldn't involve the advance mechanism. What kind of shape is your carb in? Has it run well before?

Your timing should be 10 degrees or more before top dead center.

I will take another look and verify.  do you how to verify if vacuum advance is working?  I have dist out and have been  told to check the advance mechanism.  I have a vacuum guage if needed.

Sounds like a fuel starvation issue to me.   
If I cant fix it, it's broke

don't worry about the vacuum advance , I would disconnect it for now anyway .
 You could have a number of problems , it could be fuel starvation or the opposite the carb flooding
