Carbon Fiber or custom dash pieces
« on: April 01, 2012 - 09:05:43 PM »
A buddy of mine is looking at a 1970 Cuda that is for sale and is thinking of making a Pro-Touring car. He would like a custom dash (Carbon Fiber or something) with new gauges in it.  Does anyone know of a place that sells carbon fiber dash pieces or something like that for the Cuda?

Somebody hear had a topic where he was using self-adhesive carbon fiber sheets to make his own.

I absolutely hate that home-made looking crap holding onto autometer gauges.

I much prefer custom silkscreen fonts in OEM Rallye guages.

E.g.:

Simple painting/polishing of the bezel:

'70 318-auto Chally 'vert
'71 383-auto 'Cuda 'vert (sold)
06 300c SRT8
04 2500 QCLB 4x4 HO

I like the autometer guages, but it has to be done right...or it does look homemade.  I have  few ideas on how I woudl do it, if I ever have the cash t get a whole set of guages.

The other option, if you want to keep the factory guages, is stickers for the faces.  I believe the second pic above usign the stickers on the face (the look good).

Personally I am not a fan of the wood grain, so I painted my bezel.  The shiney bits actuall have a machnined finish and are not polished.

Here is a pic of it in the car.

I like the way your dash is cuda jas.

As for ragtop challenger it is all about preference of what you want.I liked my ralley dash i still have it up in a box  for safe keeping it just needs to be rebuilt and i like the guages i have now in the car because they are more accurate then the original guages and  aslo you can see them better at night unlike the factory guages. What you did to your car is not my style but to each person has  their own preference.
