Sounds like the right decision both from a safety and monetary point of view. After all the work and money you've put into the car the last thing you want is an accident caused by brakes failing on you.

Well the side that was leaking the boot came right off when I went to remove the push rod. I'm no expert but I'm guessing the wheel cylinder isn't supposed to look like this:

The proportioning valve can be fully stuck in one direction and all brakes will still work fine. If all the brakes are ok, you will need to bleed it out to move the proportioning valve. Bleed the back first, check your light, bleed the front, etc.

Well I've swapped the wheel cylinders, and replaced all the brake lines. I just need to bench bleed the master before I hook it up and bleed the rest of the system.
I soaked and cleaned the prop valve. At the very least it looks better

It's all in and bled. There were one or two connections that I forgot to tighten (oops!) but now it all seems good. The warning light is working as expected. I hope to get the wheels back on it this weekend and take it for a short shake out drive if the weather cooperates.
