Where did Plymouth get the name for their purple?
« on: April 11, 2012 - 05:41:43 AM »
Curious Yellow came from a relatively controversial movie title and Plum Crazy is a fairly common catch phrase.  Where did the name In-Violet come from.  It sounds like it might have some history.  Does anyone know?

By the way, this is not a test.  I am asking because I do not know.

I've heard there were several rejected names for High Impact colors which I find pretty funny:

Catch Me Copper
Unforseeable Fuicha
Statutory Grape
Gang Green
Well Red
Cost Of Living Rose
Fisher Body Rust
Hi-Ho Silver
Frank Lloyd White

Another one (I think from the Dodge Boys) was Claire Booth Purce, which we know in Plymouth Lingo as "Moulin Rouge"...

I'm pretty sure the factory used Statutory Grape as the name for the purple color on the late 90's Dakotas and Neons.

I didn't think it would be that obvious.  I guess I was reading to much into it.

Thanks
