wiped pump pushrod - is the cam ok ?
« on: April 17, 2012 - 02:25:45 AM »
Hi,
A year after a complete rebuild my 383 challenger motor is back in the shop, being overbored to 0.040, new kb400 pistions mounted, everything balanced. Shop does work at their cost as they screw up to measure te taper properly before...

Anyway, yesterday I got photos of fuel pump pusrod that was eaten! shorter by 0.08" I know it happens due to lack of zddp and batch of poor quality parts. However I'm concerned with the camshaft condition. All valve lobes look good, pump eccentric is slightly more used but not scored or wiped. Should I replace camshaft or the pushrods are always weaked and they're being eaten first ? I'll put a good used mopar pushrod.
