what type of gear oil to use?

Any recommendations on the the gear oil to use for a 8 3/4 rear axle on a 70 Challenger? Also, I heard that Redline MTL is good to use in A833 transmission...any input is greatly appreciated..thanks

I use 80-90 wt for the tranny.Same thing for the rear end if it is not a posi.I used redline once Imo there was no difference between that and the 80-90 weight for the tranny.

I use Amzoil Severe gear synthetic. If that pic is your car, you have an awesome Challenger 70plum!  :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

I have be cautioned from using syn gear oils in the diff although I personally have not had problems , I use 80/90 for the diff with a friction modifier fo rthe sure grip & 80/90 or Redline MTL for the trans , MTL is lighter & should yeild slightly better milage

 I work in a specialty gear shop - with limited slips we only use 80w90 with a friction modifier. We do not have lube failures or premature disc or cone failures. Most aftermarket limited slips also say NO synthetic oils.

Thanks for the recommendations. I will go with 80w90 with friction modifier for the diff, and Redline MTL for the trans....thanks for the comments on my ride. just got it last July and having a blast!  :burnout:
