*BUMP!*Engine is done being built and I just watched it run on the dyno... Impressive.
Vid of it starting:
From the beginning the engine was supposed to be a sleeper... it should look like the stock 383 it's replacing. Clearly it's not.
I would like to give a recap of the whole engine. I'm going through receipts and invoices, but I probably won't remember it all. Here we go:
Machine work done by Mopar Engines West (MEW), Newark, CA:Hot tank
Shotpeen block to remove rust
Tap and install ARP main studs
Line hone mains
Square deck (left .015" above pistons)
Bore and hone (+.035")
Balance rotating assembly
Blue printed engine
Piece-parts and components:440-Source 451 stroker kit installed in a 400 block
ARP head bolts (not studs)
440-Source Stealth aluminum heads (with bowl blend, valve job)
Viton valve stem seals
Ferrea stainless valves; intake and exhaust
Comp Cams (double) springs, 10 deg retainers & locks, spring pads
Comp Cams EDM solid flat tappet lifters
Weiand Action+ 8008 intake manifold (clearly a bit restrictive, but good for stock/sleeper look)
Billet torrington bearing & double roller timing chain
440-Source oil pan and pickup (needed modifcation for correct fit)
Crane Gold Series 1.5:1 roller rockers
Holley Street Avenger 850-cfm carburetor (82 jets all around, vac secondary, elec choke)
440-Source SFI-certified fluid damper
Cometic head gasket
Smith Bros custom pushrods
Mancini Racing aluminum hi-volume water pump
440-Source aluminum water pump housing
Mancini "restoration" steel timing cover
Melling hi-pressure oil pump
Taylor "Street Thunder" spark plug wires ("custom length" needs to get fixed... too long)
Proform electronic distributor (needs reduction in advance curve... need 20 deg advance; 14deg-to-35deg)
Comp Custom Cam (originally designed for EFI w/ power brakes):
