70 cuda
« on: May 20, 2012 - 10:32:18 AM »
cars in the body shop for final finishing work and paint after 30 years of beine in and out. problem is a fella in my small town has a 70 barracuda that is close to the same color as mine (orange).  same engine with hockey stripe and 440 call-out.  I want to do something unique with my paint but do love the bright orange color.  I also like the hockey stripe and call out but dont want to be the same as someone else either and would not be apposed to being completely different.  And it doesn't help that this other fella is of quite questionable character. I definetly want to stay with the orange but maybe a twist somehow.  Any ideas?

Re: questionable character, I grew up in a pretty small city, about 10,000. there was asome guy running around who was my double and caused a lot of trouble for me. The most extreme example was when I had a girl walk right up to me, about two feet away, and accuse me of getting her pregnant.

Member ChallengerGary can make you any kind of stripe you want, with any lettering. I don't know if he does anything like flames or whatnot, but it couldn't hurt to ask him if you want to go that route or something similar.

If you want to stick with the orange paint, you could:
  • Paint everything orange (grille, tail panel, get some steelies and paint them orange), or, if he's doing that, do that opposite.
  • You could go with the AAR hood treatment, which would be visually obvious, although you'd have a Halloween car then.
  • Go with the opposite of his wheels and tires. If he has stock, go with something really wide, or big and littles, with big chrome. If he has something flashy, go with police wheels and dog dishes.

Yea, I thought about a black vinyl top and black hood.  I really like that look and am not sure had difficult that would be.  I really like the Billboards as well but it is a 1970 and the way I understand the 71's are the only ones that had the billboards.

I like the wings idea.  Has anyone ever vinyl on a stock topped car. Whats it entail?  What are the thoughts on putting billboards on a 70?

blow up the other dude`s car...

I was about to order sassy grass green for my car, but in a few months time there were a bunch of green cars appearing in my region.  Made me go with a " one of " color... never looked back.  Mine was non# ,no tag of buildsheet though

My mantra is "it's your car, and you're just providing options that the factory neglected to make available."

Dutch, I like your attitude, probably not a good idea for us to hang out, we would probably get in some serious trouble.
