Radiator Support
« on: June 01, 2012 - 07:45:21 PM »
Getting ready to weld on my radiator support, inner fenders and all related brackets.  When attaching the radiator support, do you attach it at a 90 degree angle to the frame rails? When I bought the car, everything was removed so I don't have a reference to go by.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well, on mine, which I just set a small speed square on, the answer is no, not exactly 90' from the rail surface. If you used a standard framing square (and I did) with the short arm on the top of the rail. the long arm touching the upper tie bar; there is about 1/4' space at the bottom where the corner meets the rail. It's very close to 90' but maybe 4-5' laid back towards the cowl. The best way would be to set it with the inner aprons at the top and the bottom would be the aforementioned 1/4" further towards the front. Hope that helps!  :2cents:

I would either lightly tack or cleco the peices together and fit the fenders and front valance together in a dry fitment before getting carried away with welding them in place.  I assume you have the rest of the peices already.

I have everything.  I used metal screws to mock everything up.  I just noticed I could tilt  the top of the rad support forward or back.
