Just found my fender tag
« on: June 02, 2012 - 05:01:29 PM »
I've had my Barracuda for about 5 years, but had never dug through the glove box until today.  There in the bottom under a bunch of old state inspection reciepts (from the 1990's) was my fender tag.

R36  26  EN2
G(?)33 H51 J25 L34 M21 M91
GY8    I       A93 B51 C55 G11
GY8 H6X9 000 C01 E90067
E44 D31 BH23 G1B 257---

I was told when I bought the car it was originally GY8 (light metallic gold). but when I pulled the vinyl top off & pulled the carpets out everything was yellow (like lemon twist), so now I am really confused.  Was the car gold, then stripped down & painted yellow inside and out & then painted gold again twice?
It doesn't really matter, the car was just a BH 318 car and it now has a 440 in it, but it does make me curious.

That's been a dream of mine to find the tag somewhere, in a box of parts , papers, or some other stashed away place. Good for you!

There's no such thing as a 'just a bh23' car. It's an Ebody, so it's in a class all it's own ;)

Awesome to have the fender tag.I bet  it was a factory screw up-painted the wrong color and then repainted.

Thanks for the decoding, Bruce.  The Road Lamps, Luggage Rack, and Radio are all long gone.  As is the 318 & 904, replaced with a 440 and 727.
I looked under the door panels and it looks like the original gold on the doors, so I assume the car was taken down to a shell at some point & repainted yellow (everything in the interior except for the door sills and doors are yellow).  It has been repainted gold twice since then.  Alot can happen to a car in 40 years.  All I know about the previous ownership of the  car is that somebody in SW VA had it in the '90's & it still has window stickers from the Mopar Nationals in 1992.
