Another Tire Question
« on: February 11, 2005 - 12:17:37 PM »
I've decided to ditch the mis-matched 14" rims and bald tires on the Chally, and go with tall and fat!  I decided to go with 15" rims, but dunno about tires.

The car is tubbed and the springs were relocated inwards, so space is of no concern, but what do you guys (non-gender specific) prefer?  Do you use Dunlop?  BFGoodrich?  Firestone? Bridgestone?

A previous thread mentioned P295/50R15

is there taller?

What's a good high-profile, wide tire?  Make? model?

Appreciate any feedback.

Well, depending on what ya wanna do with those donuts... all around, strip, track or combination

I have MT Pro'srear and they're not that much for all around driving, not bad if you're not looking the 100% streetability and curve handling  :grinno:
BFG's are already quite OK, dunlops goes and so on so on... but on the other hand grip is not the best if ya gonna push that pedal hard.
Dunno if this is "the answer" but think off what ya want from it  :grinyes:

295's goes rear nicely with 50 profile, 60 profile is gonna be tight in the fender lip area about 2'oclock position rear upper corner of tire, again If ya have less than 5" backspacing. Otherwise fits in quite nicely

so, BFG/Dunlop 295/50 is rather safe choice.. MT is for more serious "straight-driving"...
Dementia already from the year...mmmm ???

Thanks for the info.  I think the 60 series will go nicely in the aluminum tubs, so no worries.

i found a local dealer that'll supply a pair of Cooper Cobra GT's at 275/60R15 for $104 CDN balanced and installed.

Now I have to decide on rims.  Was gunna go with 15X10 Keystones, but if I'm spendin the money, I may want something with some 'flash'.  I like Rallyes, but they're too expensive, and are 'common' for Challengers.  Since the car is all black and green, I thought plain black wheels would be neat, but maybe I wanna bit of chrome, too?

decisions, decisions....

With the car tubbed and springs relocated, those 275/60/15 tires seem tame. As challenger500 asked, what is your intention? Street, drag, or what?
