Greetings all, another Newb here!
« on: June 15, 2012 - 04:49:02 PM »
Hey all, new to the site.  Looks like a good one, and a TON of posts!  I'm from Oregon and I have a 71 Barracuda (it's not quite picture worthy  :-[) rolling chassis that I'll turn into a 440 six bbl shaker 'Cuda resto-mod.  It's been my dream car since teenage-hood.  I'll start things off with one of MY restoration woes....

Where, on this Earth, can I find a supplier who makes an authentic restoration 71 Cuda grille, with trim, and hardware?  I'd like to see this actually become a part of standard inventory from suppliers, but I guess there is a larger market for the non-71 cars?  Makes sense considering orginal production numbers of the cars, but I just don't get why manufacturers won't touch the idea of making a 71 grille???  I've been requesting this from Year One for years now, but they don't reply to me.  Other suppliers want promise for money without ever making the grille.  I also dont want to empty my bank account to buy one!

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

Welcome.

We've seen cars here that looked like Swiss Cheese brought back from the dead.

We're here to help if or when you need.
Go ahead and post pics of your project.

Wow, great responses everyone.  Looks like this site is full of true mopar lovers!  I'll go ahead and post pics soon  :working:
if you are not afraid of another car back from the dead.  You wouldn't believe the series of bad ownership situations this car has been under, but I've actually seen worse.  One of the first mopar projects I looked at years ago was a 70 (parked in a widow's back yard for the last half of its life) that was essentially two 70 cars welded together in the center.  The good part was, most of the interior was still there.  I hope that car found a good home, though.

And THANK YOU so much for giving me Dave's contact.  I looked at the link, and like what I see.  Finally, it has arrived!  Just hope I can buy one before he is out.

Welcome aboard.  Like everyone else, I enjoy seeing the "before" pix and the "in progress" pix and those pics make the "after" more meaningful when you see where it has come from.
