Quality Lower Ball Joints?
« on: June 17, 2012 - 01:57:19 PM »
I have some Moog K781 and K783 (made in the USA ones) lower ball joints that are (new, uninstalled). When I bought them I thought they were the best on the market for a standard E-body suspension.  Has anything come along since then, that is better (for this specific application)???

I thought Moog was the best too.  I heard 2 bad stories from friends who used lower ball joints from Moog and thought, "that'll never happen to me".  Well it did.  I replaced the entire front end using Moog parts and then took the car for an alignment.  The alignment guy said, "come here, I want to show you something".  While the car was lifted under the frame, he grabbed the drivers wheel and was able to move it up and down a 3/8 of an inch.  I watched it with my own eyes and my jaw dropped.  He went around to the other side and did the same thing.  WOW!!!

So, how can my opinion about Moog products be good?  You're right, they can't.  Total JUNK.  Never again will I buy Moog products.

Went to NAPA and bought 'precision automotive' brand ball joints.   Very happy with them.

I posted this because I just don't want this same thing to happen to anyone else.  Good luck.

In this day and age, I wouldn't be surprised if they all came from the same factory...
