What a excellent project!! I've always wanted to do this car. I can't wait to see it finished. I had a long discussion with ted Stephens about the real Part 1 cars since he owns the Part II cars. They were in the original town visiting the gas station that was in the film and the old timer that owned the place actually worked on the cars during the original movie shoot. They weren't running right because of the altitude I guess. This man confirmed that all 5 cars went to the crusher after filming and Chrysler did not want them going back out for resale after the abuse they took. This is why they never surfaced for sale. There is more interesting stuff to the story, I'll have to ask Ted again to fill me in. He had a lot of info on them.

The 71 movie had 440 4-speed as #1 car R/T
The 4 other cars were 383 autos & 4-speed of dif colors that were painted. [I guess they were tribute also ;)
I just said it was a "tribute" car to the movie. [not clone].

It must be the best riding around in a "Vanishing Point" Challenger.  The car looks great!
As a younger man, the movie Vanishing Point made me love three things:
- Dodge Challengers
- the music group "Mountain"
- blonds riding on motorcycles!

All your hard work shows in how well the car presents itself
Good luck with your car

I can't see the videos you posted.
Can everyone else see these?
Is my computer having problems?

All I get is the block tab that would be above the video block.

Try updating your Adobe Flash.  The updates are frequent and this may help

I'm doing a VP tribute car myself. Just got it last week. Does anyone know what side mirror they used in the film. I was thinking it might be from the Camaro they crashed a the end?

Base square chrome on drivers side. Not cable remote. I used sport chrome remote, was for my car originally.
Start a project post so we can see car. :)
