While I am certainly no fan of it, and it has been beaten upon by many threads on many boards, sales will be their final determination. If enough non-gearheads buy the car then they will have vindicated themselves. But their hopes to tap into a positive pre-existing market share by using a cultural icon has severely backfired. They are going to try to salvage what they can. The ads with the tie ins to second and third generation cars have quietly been shelved. Shows that you can't study the culture, you have to have lived it.

Well, let's look at how well the "GTO" has done.
I'm sorry to any one who ones one, but that thing is a turd - it looks like a friggin cavalier on steroids.
I'm not a Ford guy, but at least even a non-car guy can look at that and see a Mustang.

So as a fact, you can make a stylish car, it doesn't have to look like everything else on the road. And hay, it can be a 2 door.
I just wish when they "shelf" a car or model name, the would just retire it. It's insulting to such a darn cool car's heritage to have something less than great named the same.

The Charger isn't ugly for what it is, but the nameplate is what is hurting the mahority of the MoPar fan.

It's here to stay, like it or not so I'm goiing to back the Charger.  :patriot:

If sales do well and the Charger takes off we might see DC using some of that profit to make a 2-dr version.
