Favorite Tires - chime in!

Well after I sourced my Firehawks yesterday I will announce whats going on with them. The Firehawk Indy line specifically the 275-60-15s and the 235-60-15s are going to be discontinued. I don't know if the whole line will be but I was told that the announcement came out in Jan 2012.

I don't like the BFG as well but besides MT/Cooper there might not be much more choices going forward. Maybe we should start making our own since every rice rocket now wants 22" rims. 

I wonder if Coker tire is going to start making the Firehawks since they are already making many of the traditional musclecar size tires including the BFG TAs they recently added.  I'm hoping M/T will keep making their 15" street & strip tires because if they do they're likely to get all my future tire business.  I really like these cars with the old-school look of 15" wheels & tall side wall tires so I'm going to be one of the last to switch I think.

Well doesn't that just suck! I'm wondering if I should try and find an extra set? But then again IF I found a set by the time I'll need them they will be too old.

Just means you have to drive a lot more. And faster. Small price to pay.

I run 15 x 7 & 15 x 8 genuine Dodge steelies with 225-60-15 G-Force TAs on front and 275-60-15 GT Qualifiers on the rear. The front ones are rated for high speed as they came on Corvettes up to the late 90's. Cannot remember the exact rating but they are high. Qualifiers actualkly put my 451 stroker power to the pavement pretty good with minimal slippage. They are a soft tire and are wearing. Yes even in Canada now they are hard to locate. One thing I do if you are not driving the car all year round is to jack the wheels off the ground for the winter to keep them nice and round all the time.

There really isn't much selection for 15" rims in anything that even resembles a performance tire.

I run Toyo Proxes 4's on my Challenger with 17" rims, and really like those. But I'm trying to keep my butterscotch Dart a bit of a sleeper, so I want to run a set of the Mopar cop rims with hubcaps. I also really don't want to run BFG TA's, since I know they handle like rocks. And I like to rotate my tires (not to mention run wider fronts for better handling), so I'd love to find something in a 235/60, but there really isn't much out there.

I just bought a set of general grabber hp tires.  235-60 and 275-60.  I ran into the problem that most US produced tires don`t have approval for european market. That will be a big problem when you`re involved in an accident...   I really wanted to use bridgestone but they dont produce a decent front tire to combine with the 275 for the back. One other option was "eldorado"... I just dont see eldorado screaming in white on my car    I did not want to use BFGs for their poor quality and delamination problems, plus they are WAAAy overpriced.  Sooo.... general it will be.  I like them so far, they are round and they look good. Once the car is back on the road Ill let you guys know how they run...

Finding performance tires for 15 inch rims was impossible where I lived so I moved to 17 inch rims.  Fire Stone and Bridge Stone are owned by the same corp.  In the 70's when Fire Stone tires had their big recall over poly tire separation Bridge Stone bought them out.  I believe the quality issue happened again in the 90's.  Almost caused them to drop the Fire Stone brand.
