Yes I agree I have some fenders off the car,rust dents, so I spent the money on AMD fenders and yes they will need a bit of work in areas like the door gap and fender edge and they will need to be blocked out ,
but compared to repairing rust and pulling dents and hope that there is no rust hiding somewhere to come back to haunt you in 3 to 5 years, new fenders is the way to go, unless as stated you have a rare car.
unfortunately for me I have replaced everything except the roof and floor and doors, the rest is all new sheet metal so I cant call it vintage Detroit iron any more , I guess it is now called fine Taiwan steel
