Exhaust Question
« on: June 21, 2012 - 03:16:26 PM »
hey guys, just a quick question.  if i have 2.5 inch or 3 inch ( can't tell from physically looking ) exhaust pipes from the manifold, can i put on a 2 inch glasspack with no problems, other than proper downsizing to fit the glasspack?  i have been reading that it should not effect power as the exhaust should be cooler by the time it reaches near the end of the car and not take up as much volume of room and flow out easy.

any advice?

thanks

There's no way I'd go from a 2.5" or 3" system down to 2".

2.5" to the mufflers infront of the rear axle and then 2 1/4" back maybe.

Why do you want to add a 2" glasspack?   Are you trying to get rid of some loud droning?

I'd have to agree, no more than glass packs cost it would probably cost you as much or more to pay for the reducers and labor if applicable than to just put the 2" on the shelf & buy 2.5" Cherry Bombs.  Gotta agree about the noise too, I might use them as resonators, but no way I'd run just glass packs for mufflers again.  That kind of attention from the local police I can do without.  I'm kind of surprised how loud of exhaust some people get away with running but around here it would only be a matter of time before the tickets starting coming.

a book I read on exhaust theory tested using smaller pipes & increasing power but it had to be back by the gas tank not under the floor , I would drop 1/2 " no more though not from 3 to 2 "
