POLL What gas milage do you get, and what is your combo...
« on: May 13, 2012 - 02:32:35 PM »
Hello people.
I've tried to do some research into which treads discuss gas milage,...but not many comparable numbers came up....
So I decided to start this poll...

Please, post ONLY if you KNOW the REAL fuel consumption of your car, and use US-GALLONS...
BE TRUTHFUL PLEASE

Ideally also post as much info as possible aboat your combo, and feel free to comment as to why your consumption is good/bad.

Example;

-71 Cuda conv
440 w/STAGE V HEMI converison heads.
TEC 2  EFI with modified dual plane intake
2.76:1 rear end
727 with LOW stall speed converter
Dual 3" exhaust, no cross over (yet)
Power ca 423 RW BHP measured on dyno. (533 RW BHP with some N2O)

Fuel consumption ca 11MPG  (ca 2.2L/10km)
Additional notes.
Trip was on poor roads, max speed 80 km/hr, with quite some hills.
Fuel filling 33 liters + 22 liters,
Distance found using data from internet.
Still I'm disappointed by the high consumption...

My '69 Barracuda:

528 Mega Block Hemi
Indy cnc ported heads. Comp Cams small roller cam
Ray Barton crossram with two -- 750 HP Holley carbs
Custom headers.
10.5-1 compression wiseco pistons --  (pump gas engine)
800+ HP on engine dyno
3800 contenental converter
727 with reverse valve body
4.10 rear gears  -- Strange spool in a Dana 60
31" tall tires.

When cruising around without playing around too much, I get 10 mpg give or take a little bit.
IF I decide to hit the loud pedal, the mileage suffers greatly....    :smilielol:   :smilielol:

mild bowl blend
small Summit grind cam

650 Carterbrock
3spd auto
4:10 rear
33" tires

10-12 around town. 15 average highway. did have it knocking down 17-19 on an extended road trip once doing 70 mh to Phoenix and back

360 that used to be in my Challenger
.030 over  11.5:1
internally balanced
swirl port heads with extensive porting work

way too big Erson cam (.590/300*)
750 Carterbrock

Late to the party but

3750 lbs
340 dual carters 500 cfm
3.91 with 3,000 stall 904 trans
26 1/2 tires, 215/70/15

10 to 12 mpg, was 8 to 9 mpg with any holley or demon carb, 650 to 750 all dp

But I drive to go, not to putt around, I got a 23 mpg car I can do that in. Be interesting what a steady 55 mph would do, lol

A manual overdrive would be nice, Richman makes nice after market trans but then I like an auto on the street, one foot for the gas and left foot always resting on the brake since anything can and does happen on the street

Well I guess you can look at it like you can do about 12  1/4 mile runs on a gallon of gas!

Exactly! So about a gallan per day at the track averaged out pretty good.

MY 440 duster was far more thirsty !! , I had to drive 2 hrs to the track & 2 hrs back & that part was cheap but if I remember correctly I was using 1/2 gallon / 2 liters / pass , 1050 dominator carb on a Team G intake shifting at 7000 rpm running mid 11s @ 118 mph , 12 passes was 6 gallons or 1 mpg including putzing back on the return road LOL

Man, the image that comes to mind when the throttle plates on that Dominator opens is this!  :roflsmiley:

And then this with the price of gas the way it is!!!  But oh what fun!!!!   :jumping:
