Electronic ign conversion voltage reg question

I am converting my `69 to electronic ignition and have it all set but wanted to know if I should keep the stock regulator or switch over to the electronic type and if so what changes need to be made-wiring,alterantor etc?

If you want to keep the "stock" look, a stock appearing regulator is available with electronic internals in it...replaces the stock "points" type regulator exactly. Year one has them, and I'm pretty sure Mancini does too.

Nothing stock about the car so looks don`t matter.Just need to know if I can keep the set up I have or need to convert to electronic.

well, if you are running an original points type regulator, it will cause the electronic ign box to hiccup occasionally, the electrical noise generated from the points inside the old style regulator will cause this. just change to the electronic version of the old style regulator, a simple change of regulator, NO wiring changes.

  Thanks for the info. I knew the voltage regulators looked the same, I didn't know they were different internally. Always learning here. :grinyes:

You can pick up a stock replacement type regualtor from Autozone that has electronic guts for about $12. It's a Wells VR706.

I had used the Mopar Performance one for about 2 years when it crapped out and the Weels has been in the car now for almost 2 years.
