LAA66; you are wondering how well the factory a/c works in these cars, it works very well if everthing is in good condition & serviced correctly, that means a new drier, evacuated for a min of 30 min at 28inches of vacum & (no air in the system) fully charged with R12 refrigerant. I live in so CA on the edge of the desert where it is a 100 deg. almost every day. I get 42 deg out of the vents of my 70 Chally, it helps to have a good strong running blower too!

I haven't bothered. I drove the truck to carlisle and it was pretty dang hot in that. One day I do want to get vintage AC. I have also been slowly working on my tail light gaskets so the car is slightly apart.

With the top down and a white interior it's very doable.

Don't have air in the cooter and it doesn't matter.   As a rule in the past I couldn't drive her in over 100 degree weather because of overheating and vapor locking issues but over the years I've been adding help with that.  Aluminum cross flow radiator,  thermo switched electric pusher fan, larger volume pump fan, custom shroud and new hood to radiator support seal (that dropped 5 degrees alone).   So now I can cruise around this 110 degree desert melted to the vynil seats and sweating buckets,  Aaahhh Good Times!  Lol

I'm not a big fan of AC, I prefer having the windows down and cruising :)!

I drive mine when its over 100* all the time. No A/C, so it's not the most comfortable, but I've never had problems with the car running hot.

I just throw an extra shirt in the car if I need to look presentable   :2thumbs:

Sadly it's never 90 in Norway. But in the high 80's at the best. Beside I drive with all the windows rolled down with ait blowing thru my hair. That's the way to drive a muscle car. No A/C :burnout:

Try and get out in the morning or the evenings and it is not too bad.  So Cal and it has been in the mid 90's to low 100's, a little too warm to be in the car for my taste.   Think I might take it down to the Sonic tonight for the regular Friday night show???

I was trying to get A/C in mine before it got too hot, but no luck. I will try this winter to do it as here in Georgia it seems lately we have 150 or so days above 90. We took it to dinner last night at 7:30 and it was still 93 and about 89 when we left at 9:30. Wife says, I love you but this damn thing is too hot  :stomp: :stomp:, so at least she now agrees it is worth the money to add air. Somehow I need to convince her the Hotchkis suspension is worth it before I do it too

I rebuilt the stock A/C in the Barracuda and it blows decently cool for temps up to about 90 degrees, after that it just can't keep up.  And that's only if its been sitting in the shade or the garage, etc.  If its been sitting in the sun, forget it.  If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have worried about keeping it original and just put a modern vintage air system on it I'd be miles ahead.  I might consider putting a more efficient A/C coil on it, but I've sunk a bunch of money into A/C for it not to work any better than it does.

The Roadrunner has 440 air conditioning right now, All 4 windows rolled down at 40 MPH.  I drove it for years with no A/C, black vinyl top & black interior.  No more, when I get it back on the road for good it will be sporting A/C for sure.
