New from Arlington, TX. Looking for VIN help
« on: July 26, 2012 - 06:41:44 PM »
I purchased a 70 Hemi cuda back in 2002  knowing that the VIN # was incorrect   but not caring much.  It was registered in North Carolina and I had no trouble registering it here in Texas. Just wanted to get it running and have some fun. Turns out to have a Keith Black Hemi in it and looked like it was set up for racing.   It only had 70 miles on it in the 13 years.  The owner was sick for most of the 13 years and i bought it from his widow.

Now my question.     I feel like an adopted child wanting to find his birth parents.   How can i trace the original VIN#.     I have a couple clues.  I know that the cowling and the 4 speed tranny have matching numbers (0B219199)   I'm sure it is a BS23  and I'm pretty sure it is L or N code engine as it had a 383 wiring harness.
Obviously the fender plates have all been removed.  I believe it was built up in Phoenix from what the widow said.   IS there anyplace else to look for more VIN#'s on the car?   Will the AZ DOT have records back that far?
