70 cuda quarter window rear guide
« on: September 10, 2010 - 12:32:36 AM »
One of my 70 cuda quarter window rear guides is missing the rubber insert that
the window rides in. Does anyone know where I can get a suitable replacement or
get another guide bracket? It is the passenger side.

:dunno:  Well I checked the link article and even contacted the poster. He said he had purchased something from an older Year One catalog. He couldn't remember what it was and we can't find the item on their web site or in their newest catalog. So any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Seems to be one of those pieces that there is not enough demand for reproductions...
You might contact someone in the rubber reproduction biz like Steele Rubber & see if they have a solution...
Not having a 70 I can only imagine what your referring to. I had a 240Z that used heavy felt in a window guide. We sell a similar part that goes in clothes dryers, about an inch wide 2ft long 1/4" thick, if you want I can send you one & see if it can be adapted.

I got a piece like that from RT Specialites when I rebuilt my from window tracks. Just call Tom and see if he has it. Mine was rubber and like felt in the middle. I had to cut it to fit.

I know this is an older post but this might help, I ran into the same problem after 10 glass shops and not lucky on the internet I decided to make my own, now not as good as originals but seem to do the job, I went to home depot and bought rubber crown moulding gennerally what you see in office buildings, took one of my old inserts that had not crumbled to pieces, cut out the design four timesand cut strips for the back side , got some mole hair fabric from a fabric store glued fabric to the rubber using Elmers craft glue as this will not seep thru the fabric, then used weather strip adhiesive to glue into the channel. I let set for a few days and installed, I am not saying that they are perfect but keeps the glass from hitting the metal and is functional. plus not expensive  I think I spent less the $20.00 to do this and I can move on to the next step interior
