Shaker Hood and misc. goodies ----- Value?

  Here's a real live Shaker Hood and some after market stuff to go along with it. The hood is in very good shape, only very minor dings in the metal, no rust. The guy wants $1,000 for everything, is it worth that much?
  I would have to modify the carb pan to fit my single 4 barrel set up, or buy a pan made for my set up.

yes,buy it!Its worth at least 3000.00 to 5,000.00 especially if the hood is original.Great find

How can I confirm that it's not a reproduction?

Ask the owner if he knows were the hood came from.If its a repo in todays market 800.00 would be max.A few years back it would have gotten 1,500. to 2,000.00.If its a factory conversion its worth 3,000.00 to 5,000.00 not sure how to tell?Maybe if someone on this site could tell?The bubble should have the penstar logo on the underside by the vent holes.The bubble has a few extra holes ,it will need to be repaired.

Sheesh If you have the funds available buy it up! If you don't use it /want it I'm sure you can make a nice profit flipping it!  Heck it's even white same as your car, you might not even have to paint it!

 I went back to take another look at it last night, I was juiced and ready to make an offer......
It's in worse condition that I thought, plus the '' Under Hood Brace '' is fiber glass. It's not a great install. then the front underside of the hood shows pitting from rust. They just sanded it enough to squirt a coat of paint on it, so that looks bad and would need some major love. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna pass on this one...........

from your picture.  The underside shows the repro insert modified into a flat hood. 
Original hoods would not have the insert.

Yup..... I don't know much about these, but the more I looked and the more he talked, the more I knew this was mot a good deal.
