Auto to 5-speed TKO600 installation parts and instructions ?
« on: August 05, 2012 - 01:25:08 PM »
I'm going to convert the auto transmission in my '73 'Cuda to a manual 5 speed. I've gotten a couple of quotes for the conversion kits, but was wondering if it would be any cheaper if I sourced the parts myself. Thinking of maybe going with a TKO600 from Liberty (http://www.libertysgears.com/ttc2.htm)

Anyone have a detailed parts list and assembly instructions for this conversion ?

Thanks !

It's going to be cheaper in a kit for sure.  But it can be done outside of a kit.  You will have a ton is shipping all these little boxes though - you are not the first to investigate this.

Here are the custom parts -
Cross member
Roller pilot bearing (Custom)
Throw out bearing - Mechanical - Custom
Tunnel Patch with instructions
speedo cable - mechanical -  If you go electronic never mind this.
Hardware kits -
Hydraulics - If you decide to go that route.

Misc. parts-
Isolation mount -
Bell housing .....etc.
Clutch set-up
reverse pig-tail
drive shaft or input shaft yoke
Stick Handle - Pistol grip or straight if you don't have one.  The re-pro's are really nice.
5 speed bezel for the pistol grip - ebay or year one.

It can be done!

Forgot the big one - The E-body modification to make it fit.  Liberty can't and won't give you this.

I got the TKO-600 kit from bigblue73 back in Jan of 2011, very good to work with and the price was good too, I shopped around a couple of differnt places.

Hey we might even get it installed it this month!! Or next  :o

But won't probably get to try it untill next spring  :'(
