70 rear light trim
« on: July 26, 2012 - 04:17:37 PM »
Is there any way to restore the plastic chrome trim around the rear light housing  on a 70 challenger
Mine is pitted and discolored .
Has anyone repaired one before ?
Thanks

Sadly, the tail light bezels were made of cheap pot metal.

I'm not sure if you can restore them.   :dunno:

I bought some after-market repops, but they came at a price.   :money:

I believe they can be repaired by sandng them down filling the holes / pitts & replating them but it will not be cheap , I bought new billet alum ones as well

I searched for almost a year to find decent originals.   Found one only .... then went with a repro that was on eBay.   Mine fit perfectly, but I am not aware who is making them.

You can have them restored but it is very labor intensive which translates into $$$ I will look around for who did mine it has been a couple years and than I believe it was around 600 for the entire back end.

I sent mine to Pauls Chrome they were going to be $400 each to repair and plate so I bought a new set for around 195 from BE&A. The repops are very nice. This isn't a jab at Pauls Chrome, I had them plate my fog light bezels, inside door handles and locks and the did a great job I'm extremely pleased with their work and will use them again. Like some one said they are pot medal and expensive to fix.

Cuda ones are not to bad, but Challenger ones cost about 425.00

I wonder if anyone just painted them black and how that would look.
