E-body tranny line routing suggestions
« on: July 08, 2012 - 03:28:12 PM »
Hello All,
I'm helping a Bud with the restoration of his '71 Challenger R/T. OK, I'm in the process of putting the tranny lines he's purchased. Well, Hello TTI headers. I've always been an OEM-guy, so don't have much experience with installation of tranny lines on cars equipped with headers. Soooooo, any suggestions? From my end, the tranny lines hit the bottom tubes and hence won't position themselves properly at the fittings..

I'm having the same problem.  So are you saying I have to make a custom set of tranny lines?  or just bend the **** out of the ones I have....

Why not try a 90 or 45 degree adapter, then the lines wouldn't have to be bent or at a minimum, bent just a little.

Where would the adapter be installed?  I don't see how that would work.....

Thanks for the input.

Remove the straight fitting from the transmission and replace them with a 45 or 90 degree fitting. They might be hard to find. When I installed my transmission, I broke one off flush with the tranny. I went to all the auto parts stores to find one & had no luck. I went to hydraulic services shop and bingo, lot of fittings.

You can always order a fitting from these guys if you can't find the fitting locally. These guys are the largest supplier of fittings out there. http://shop.hoseandfittings.com/index.html

Well thanks for the input guys.

I ended up, just rebending them to fit up tight against the tranny and just slipp around the trans bellhousing.  They are very close to the headers though, so I'll need to build a heat sheild of some kind.

Thanks for your responses!
