Bucket Seat won't lock back into place. How do you reset it?
« on: August 18, 2012 - 06:29:22 PM »
Is there a trick to reset the locking mechanism for the top part of the seat that tilts forward so you can get into the back seat?
It doesn't want to clamp and hold onto the U-shaped bracket on the bottom bucket seat.

For a 70 Challenger seat.

Thanks.

Try screwing  it the stop. That will let the seat come back more.

Can the jaws just clamp together? Everything was fine before, I was cleaning the car, and just noticed after it wouldn't lock into place.

I've had the same problem.  That's something like #12 on my top ten list of things to fix.  But if there's a simple solution, I get right on it.

I think this is the latch ass'y. When you push on the button on the side of the seat, does the button pin make contact with that square piece (between the 2 screws) to release the latch?

Since you were cleaning the car, did you happen to accidentally close the latch so it will not clamp shut?  Maybe some lube in there might help too??

Yes, I think that's what happened.
