Haddixj, this tach will make all your wildest dreams come true (Napolian Dynamite). First, you tell them whether you want a 7,000 or 8,000 RPM tach. Then you get all of your gauge faces redone, your gauges recalibrated, and your clock "quartzed". The VDO reference is to the mechanics/electronics of the tach, not the face. They set it based on your 7,000 or 8,000 preference.
I just installed an MSD 6AL because I have a 4-speed car and I wanted beter electronic ignition + a rev limiter. I mention this because the VDO tach is MUCH more accurate with the MSD. Also, when you turn the ignition key, the tach will jump up to your rev limit to confirm the RPM at which the limiter kicks in.
