The transmission mount I bought from the auto parts store has a large gap above and below the center bushing which allows the transmission (due to its weight) to settle down and close the lower gap when installed. With this design there appears to be very little vertical restraint in this mount, and it would appear that it would affect drive shaft angle. Can anyone tell me what the purpose is for this design? Is it intended to behave like this?
I did a quick search and noticed that many of the more expensive poly mounts are constrained completely, without the gap above or below the urethane. This seems like a better way to go.
